　　Gavin Elster (Tom Helmore), a classmate of retired police detective John Ferguson (James Stewart), is a shipbuilder. He asked John to follow his wife, saying that she was often possessed by ghosts. Subsequently, John follows Gavin's instructions and meets a beautiful woman (Kim Novak) at Ernie's restaurant.
